Screen Printing Methods Defined
Spot Color Screen Printing
Spot color screen printing is a technique used to apply a single or limited number of colors to a surface. This method involves using separate screens for each color in the design, allowing for precise and vibrant color reproduction. The result is a bold and solid print with crisp edges and defined colors.
Spot color screen printing is a common form of screen printing and is used for designs that require high color accuracy and saturation, and it is often chosen for its durability and versatility.
Half Tone Screen Printing
Halftone screen printing allows for high-quality and precise reproduction of complex and detailed images with smooth transitions between shades and gradients. Using a series of tiny dots of varying sizes and densities to create the appearance of shades and gradients in an image,
To create a halftone image, the original artwork or photograph must be converted into a series of dots using specialized software. It is commonly used to reproduce intricate designs or photographs.
CMYK Screen Printing
CMYK screen printing is a versatile printing technique that utilizes Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (black) inks to produce a wide range of colors on different materials. Each ink has its own screen, enabling the layering and overlapping of colors to achieve shades, gradients, and vivid images. The black ink enhances the final design by adding depth and contrast.
This method is extensively employed in textile printing due to its ability to accurately reproduce color images with superb quality.
Grayscale Screen Printing
Grayscale screen printing is used to print images or designs that contain varying shades of gray. Instead of using various solid colors, grayscale screen printing utilizes halftone dots to create the illusion of different shades of gray.

The process involves breaking down the image into a series of tiny dots at various densities. These dots are then printed with different sized screens, which allow different levels of ink to be deposited on the substrate. The resulting combination of dots and different ink densities produces the desired grayscale effect.
Duotone Screen Printing
Duotone screen printing uses two colors to create a unique visual effect in apparel. By overlapping transparent inks, new shades and tones are created, adding depth and dimension. It offers creative possibilities for designers to experiment with different color combinations. The process requires separate screens for each color, accurate alignment, and ink opacity adjustments.
Duotone screen printing enhances the overall appeal of artwork and makes the final product stand out. It is often used to create vintage or retro-inspired prints, as well as contemporary designs that require a unique and eye-catching visual effect.
Simulated Process Screen Printing
To get the best results of a photograph or full-color design you will want to use Simulated Process Screen Printing to get the best results. Simulated Process is better than four color process by blending in standard spot colors to achieve high amounts of photorealistic detail. Simulated Process works well on both light and dark-colored garments. Photorealistic and complex designs take time to recreate. Due to the difficulty involved there is a Setup fee to get your Artwork ready for printing.
